The new head of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, Svitlana Grynchuk, who was appointed at the beginning of September, met for the first time with representatives of public organizations in the field of environmental protection and presented them with the department's priorities in the development of the environmental sphere.

Svitlana Grynchuk considers the main principles to be:
- comprehensive nature protection policy across all sectors of the economy;
- environmental standards at all levels;
- transparency and openness in decision-making.
All this is in the context of digital transformation, active international cooperation and public involvement in the process.
Among the main things that were discussed with public environmentalists, the Ministry of Environment singled out the following:
1. Movement towards fair compensation for damaged environment and "green" restoration in accordance with clause 8 of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi's Peace Formula on Environmental Security.
2. European integration of the environmental sphere. The agency noted that Chapter 27 of Ukraine's obligations to the EU is the most difficult to implement. However, they assured that they continue to implement them step by step.
3. Water policy reform. The priority is to solve the issue of water supply for Ukrainians and adaptation to climate change, as well as the transition to the European model of water resources management.
4. Reform of state environmental control. The main goal is to create an operational, transparent, high-tech system of state environmental control.
5. Waste management. The Ministry of Environment noted that they are continuing the reform initiated with the approval of the framework law "On Waste Management" and implementing the best European approaches and practices.
6. Cross-sectoral climate policy.
"In the conditions of constant temperature extremes and threats of war, Ukraine is nevertheless updating its climate policy and working on the launch of STV (emissions quota trading system – ed.) and MZV (monitoring, reporting and verification of greenhouse gas emissions – ed.)", – they say in the department.
7. Sustainable subsoil use. The priority is the continuation of digitization and transformation of the State Geology and Subsoil Service of Ukraine into a service service.
8. Reform of industrial pollution. The next steps after the approval of the Law of Ukraine "On integrated prevention and control of industrial pollution" in the Ministry of Environment were called the creation of a legal and digital basis for the start of the reform.
9. Development of the nature reserve fund (NPF) of Ukraine. The department hopes to finally complete work on the State Cadastre of PZF, continue work on increasing the area of protected territories, and update approaches to the management of national parks and reserves.
10. Completion of the forest industry reform. The main thing here is the combination of sustainable forest management and the economic component, the ministry believes.
11. Development of the Chernobyl exclusion zone and provision of radiation and nuclear safety. The priority is to create a long-term strategy for the development of the Exclusion Zone and its transformation, providing the Chernobyl zone with fire-fighting equipment and a modern fire protection system.
Indeed, it will be very interesting to see whether those reforms that the previous minister, Ruslan Strilts, failed to do: the reform of state environmental control, the reform of waste management, and the reform of the forest sector will really be moved. As for the latter, Sagittarius in his farewell post boasted that he had brought it "to the finish line." Apparently, he did not prove it. But to report – reported.
The development of the Chernobyl zone and its transformation will require great efforts from the new minister, because corruption and disorder are blooming there, as evidenced by the audits of the State Audit Service. Svitlana Grynchuk thanked all NGO representatives who took part in the meeting for their active position and their vision, assured that this meeting would not be the last, and promised to publicize the updated vision of the work of the Ministry of Environment.
