Only 2 of the three cleaning corridors are working, and the aeration tanks are in poor condition

In Transcarpathia, in the village of Solotvyno, sewage treatment plants are in a critical state, overloaded and working inefficiently, due to which untreated sewage pollutes the Khustets River, a tributary of the cross-border Tysa.

A large number of recreation centers are operated in the town and new ones are under construction, the State Environmental Inspection in Zakarpattia Oblast reports on Facebook.

It is noted that a significant part of the treatment facilities in the region are in critical condition. In particular, in Solotvyno, the sewage treatment facilities of the Khust VUVKG do not provide standard wastewater treatment, namely, there are violations:

  • technologies;
  • cleaning regulations, because only 2 of the three cleaning corridors are working, aeration tanks are not working well;
  • general technical condition, due to which polluted wastewater is discharged into the Khustets River, a tributary of the cross-border Tisza River.

In the message, it was emphasized that the sewage treatment facilities need to be repaired. In the 90s of the last century, new treatment systems were built in the city of Chop based on physical and chemical treatment facilities. Due to the termination of funding, only 70% of the work was completed. The restoration of their construction is impossible due to the current state.

"We continue to highlight this problem. Hoping that local self-government bodies will make every effort to find funds and install sewage treatment plants. After all, it will be an investment not only for yourself, but also for the younger generation," the eco-inspectors emphasized.

We would like to remind you that by the end of 2023 in Lviv Oblast, they plan to complete the construction of the sewage network in the city of Glynyany, which was started in 2014.

As previously reported by EcoPolitics, in the Kyiv region in the Buchansk community a sewage treatment plant will be built,which will operate on green energy according to European standards.
