Containers for collecting plastic caps in the symbolic form of green leaves are located in the city's parks

The project "Second Life for Plastic Caps" is being implemented in Mykolaiv. To this end, the municipal enterprise "Mykolaiv Parks" has already installed 12 of the 25 planned special bins in the city's green areas.

According to the Mykolaiv City Council, the project of the local public organization "Collect Caps – Give a Chance for a Full Life" has already collected and delivered up to 300,000 caps.

The city council emphasizes that the containers are intended only for collecting caps from household products. This includes water, juices, and dairy products. However, plastic that has come into contact with household chemicals or medicines should not be handed in, as this complicates recycling.

"Each cap is not just a piece of plastic, but a contribution to the development of environmental culture and humanity," the city council said in a statement.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, there is another project for separate waste collection in Lviv – the eco-bus. The minibus runs around the city according to a schedule and gives residents the opportunity to hand in used batteries, mercury lamps, and thermometers.

Also, global brands including PepsiCo, Nestlé, and Unilever have advocated for stricter regulation of plastic use and its recycling.
