Journalists suspect this may be a way to hide additional income

The director-general of the state-run enterprise Lesa Ukrayiny, Yuriy Bolokhovets, has declared "free accommodation" in a luxury apartment in Kiev.

This was reported by the StopCor news and analysis website.

Journalists said that for two years the official in his annual declarations indicates that he lives in the residential complex “Boulevard of Fountains” in the capital. According to Bolokhovets' claim, he uses the apartment for free.

The declaration indicates that the owner of this real estate Andrei Reva.

StopCore says that he is a business partner of Bolohovets' wife in the agricultural sector. It is he who, according to the data of the declaration for 2024, provides housing for temporary use to the head of the state forestry enterprise.

Journalists of the publication asked how much it costs to rent an apartment of similar area in the same residential complex. They found out that the monthly pleasure of living in such apartments can cost about $3500 on average.

Investigators have calculated that in total for 2023 and 2024, as well as the first quarter of 2025, the official would have to spend about $100,000 to rent such housing. In hryvnia equivalent, this amount exceeds 4 million.

“This situation raises questions: is it really about free help from an acquaintance, or perhaps it is a way to avoid declaring additional expenses or income that could raise questions about their origin,” the journalists said.

They also said that StopCor is already preparing an official request to the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption to find out whether there are no signs of a conflict of interest or violation of legal norms in such a situation.

In January, EcoPolitic reported that according to the mass media, the head of the state-run enterprise Lesa Ukrayiny, Yuriy Bolokhovets, had set up a private farm of more than 80 hectares in the forests near the village of Ivangorod in Chernihiv Region.
