On Wednesday, April 22, at 12:00 p.m., a meeting of the Committee on Environmental Policy and Natural Resource Use will take place. Among the goals set by lawmakers are to provide recommendations for changes in the fisheries sector and to formulate a decision to resolve the situation regarding wind power plants in Zakarpattia Oblast.
EcoPolitic reports on the meeting’s agenda, which was published on the parliamentary eco-committee’s website.
“Fisheries” laws
Lawmakers are to prepare their proposals regarding two alternative draft laws in the field of fisheries regulation:
- No. 15040 dated 20.02.2026. Concerns amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine regarding the implementation of EU legislation and improvement of state regulation in the fisheries sector.
- No. 15040-1 dated 03.03.2026. Intended to amend certain legislative acts of Ukraine regarding the introduction of EU legal norms and improvement of state regulation in the fisheries sector and the aquaculture field.
Additional issues
In addition to the draft legislative acts, the environmental committee also plans to consider a number of additional issues. The agenda includes the following:
- Review of the Annual Report of the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights on the state of observance and protection of the rights and freedoms of man and citizen in Ukraine for 2025;
- Cooperation between the Research Service and the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Environmental Policy and Nature Management in 2025;
- Adoption of a decision based on the results of a joint meeting of the environmental and European integration committees held on April 15. This concerns the implementation by state bodies of the previous joint decision of parliamentarians, which they formulated after the offsite meeting in Uzhhorod on November 8, 2025, regarding the specifics of implementing large investment projects, including the construction of wind farms in Zakarpattia region.
As a reminder, at the joint meeting of the two committees, the practice of building foundations separately from the wind generators themselves to avoid environmental assessment was recognized as illegal.
