Now he faces 8 to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property

On October 9, law enforcement officers detained the head of the Khotinsky National Nature Park in the Chernivtsi region while accepting a bribe from a businessman.

This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI).

$65 thousand the head of the nature reserve wanted to receive a long-term lease of land plots on the territory of the national park for his signature. The businessman intended to build a recreation center on them. But he did not want the documents to be drawn up in this way, so he turned to the law enforcement officers.

After handing over the bribe and signing the lease agreement, SBI employees detained the head of the national park and informed him of suspicion under Part 4 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – receipt of unlawful benefits by an official, coupled with extortion, on a particularly large scale.

The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 8 to 12 years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to 3 years, with confiscation of property.

The court has already chosen a preventive measure for the attacker in the form of detention with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of 2 million UAH.
