Russian attack on energy infrastructure in Odesa region caused environmental damage worth UAH 3 million shutterstock

The State Ecological Inspectorate of the Southwestern District has calculated the damage caused to the region's environment by a Russian drone attack on energy infrastructure in Odesa region on March 22.

The shelling led to the ignition of oil products weighing 136 tons, as well as buildings and structures over an area of more than 1,000 square meters, the State Environmental Inspectorate of the Southwestern District reports on Facebook.

The carbon dioxide emissions that were released into the air amounted to 549 tons. State inspectors calculated the damage at almost UAH 3 million.

The information was forwarded to the Operational Headquarters of the State Environmental Inspectorate of Ukraine for inclusion in the unified register of environmental damage caused by armed aggression.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Zaporizhzhia, after the shelling of the Dnipro HPP, petroleum products entered the Dnipro River.
