The acting director, chief accountant, and accountant of a municipal enterprise of one of the village councils of Lutsk district were served with a notice of suspicion for illegal sand mining worth more than UAH 1.2 million.
The communal workers used the company's equipment for mining, the Volyn Regional Prosecutor's Office reported on Facebook.
The press service said that, according to the investigation, the suspects organized the extraction and sale of sand without proper permission. The violation lasted from September to December 2023.
"Accountants entered into official documents information about the use of vehicles of the utility company for purposes that do not contradict the registered types of its economic activity, and received funds from clients," the report says.
It is noted that they are suspected of illegal extraction of minerals of local importance on a large scale, committed by an official using his official position, following a prior conspiracy by a group of persons (Part 3 of Article 240 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The amount of damage to the environment reached 1.2 million hryvnias.
