In the Lviv region, rescuers extinguished 10 dry grass fires on February 22.
The fire destroyed about 5,000 m2 of dead wood, the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Lviv Oblast reports on Facebook.
It is noted that the fires occurred in:
- Stryi district – 1 fire;
- Sambir district – 1;
- Yavorivsky District – 2;
- Drohobytsky District – 3;
- Lviv District – 3.
In the message, residents of the region were urged to stop burning with dry matter. After all, fire destroys not only dry matter, but also plants, insects, animals and birds.
"If you see arson, report it to the fire service and the police immediately, regardless of the fact that the arsonist is your neighbor or an acquaintance," the rescuers urged.
They emphasized that very often the fire gets out of control and destroys everything in its path. Such fires spread quickly, especially in windy weather. It is very difficult to stop a fire that has gained strength.
The notice noted that for setting fire to dry grass, violators face fines:
- for citizens – from UAH 3,060 to UAH 6,120;
- for officials – from UAH 15,300 to UAH 21,420.
