Environmental crimes can be reported through the "EkoZagroza" mobile application and "hot lines"

In 2023, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources received 3,651 appeals regarding environmental pollution, pesticide use, deforestation, etc.

The calls were made to the toll-free hotline 0800 500 115 and (044) 206-33-02, the Ministry of Environment reports on Facebook.

"Our hotlines continue to work and accept appeals," the press service emphasized.

Among the most popular environmental issues, the report named:

  • liquidation of spontaneous landfills and where to hand over used batteries, fluorescent lamps, refrigerators, power banks;
  • operation of the national online platform "EkoSystema" and the procedure for obtaining permits;
  • industrial air pollution;
  • pollution of water bodies and rivers;
  • illegal mining;
  • destruction of forest plantations;
  • harvesting firewood for own needs;
  • carrying out inspections of environmental legislation compliance by enterprises;
  • treatment of fields with pesticides;
  • preservation of the ecosystem in the territories of nature reserve parks.

It is noted that Ukrainians can also use the "EkoZagroza" mobile application, which is available for download in GooglePlay and AppStore, for:

  • searching for up-to-date information on the state of the environment;
  • notification of the facts of an environmental crime;
  • emergency call.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that experts rated the work of the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Ruslan Strilets in 2023 at 4 on a ten-point scale, in particular due to the lack of transparency and accountability of the ministry's work.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in the Kyiv region, in the Boryspil district, "black loggers" cut down 348 trees in forest strips, which caused damage of 2.4 million hryvnias. The law enforcement officers found out about the violation thanks to the appeal of a concerned citizen.
