In 2024, the project is not planned to continue due to limited funding

In Kalush, Ivano-Frankivsk region, solar panels have been installed at eight pedestrian crossings and intersections to ensure the smooth operation of streetlights.

Thanks to the solar power plant, the lights illuminate the most critical sections of the road all night long, Informator reports.

It is noted that in 2023, streetlights at intersections were equipped with solar panels:

  • St. Yevshana — Independence:
  • Yevshana – Heroes of Ukraine;
  • B. Khmelnytskyi — V. Stus;
  • Vinnychenka — Dzvonarska.

In 2022, such SPP will be installed at the pedestrian crossings of Vynnychenka Street, Heroiv Ukrainy Street and Lesya Ukrainka Avenue.

Deputy Mayor Bohdan Biletskyi said that the solar panels were purchased with the funds of the public utility company "Misksvitlo".

"The idea was to make at least pedestrian crossings in the city safer during blackouts. And she fully justified herself: the lamps on the poles, which are powered by these panels, shine all night. Even in the winter time, they have enough stored energy," he said.

Biletskyi added that funding is very limited in 2024, so there are no plans to continue these measures yet.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Khmelnytskyi in Slavuta, municipal workers equipped 31 public transport stops with solar-powered lamps for additional lighting.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in 2021 two solar power plants were installed to power street lights on the road M-05 Kyiv — Odesa.
