In Poltava, an animal shelter was flooded due to a sewerage system failure, forcing the evacuation of six out of 22 dogs.
Other animals were transplanted to more remote enclosures, Suspilne reports.
It is noted that the accident occurred on December 20 at about 20:00 near the intersection of Simon Petliura and Ognivska streets.
"When this whole flood started, a big hole appeared, the earth simply collapsed. I don't know if the collector was formed. The hole was like that, three meters deep. It swelled like that, and before my eyes, the earth fell away from the sides of this hole." - said the owner of the shelter, Svitlana Ivanchenko.
Serhii Bohodyuk, head of the department for regulating the number of animals "KATP 1628", said that sewage flooded about 1,500 m2 of territory. Employees of the water utility are trying to eliminate the accident.
"Currently, the owner of the shelter is raising money through social networks to restore the shelter and keep the animals. It is not yet known when the collector will be repaired," the article said.
In December in Poltava, in the Yar microdistrict, one of the city's main sewage collectors collapsed, as a result of which a 200-meter-long sinkhole with sewage was formed. In the city, 42 failures on large-diameter collectors have already been discovered.
