Commander of "Odesa" group of troops was bribed for poaching

The violator was informed of the suspicion of attempted bribery

They wanted to give a 200,000 hryvnias bribe to Eduard Moskalev, the commander of the operational-strategic grouping of the "Odesa" troops, in order to obtain permission to catch biological resources in the prohibited border zone.

Moskalyov reported on the attempted bribery and contributed to the exposure and investigation, reports the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office in Telegram.

"These funds were transferred from the head of a private company for the issuance of a separate order to obtain a permit to harvest biological resources in the prohibited border zone," the report says.

It is noted that detectives of the SAP, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and experts worked on the case military counterintelligence department of the Security Service of Ukraine.

The violator was exposed on November 19, and on November 20 he was informed of the suspicion of attempted bribery. His actions were qualified under Part 3 of Art. 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – offering and providing an illegal benefit to an official for his actions in the interests of the person who offers and provides such a benefit based on a prior conspiracy by a group of persons.

"The issue of applying preventive measures to the suspect is being resolved. The investigation is ongoing," SAP said.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that the former head of the department of the State Environmental Inspection of the Carpathian District was sentenced to 5.5 years in prison with confiscation of property for receiving a bribe.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Zhytomyr region, in Narodytskyi Hromada, the village council illegally leased 1,437 hectares of land in the exclusion zone of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, i.e. radioactive contamination, for the cultivation of grain crops.
