It is noted that the fellings were organized by the chief forester of the Volyn Regional Department of Forestry and Hunting, the chief specialist of this department and the engineer of the Lyuboml Forest Farm. Trees were cut down in 7 plots with a total area of more than 1 hectare.
"Officials, in violation of the law, issued logging tickets without an environmental impact assessment, which is mandatory for carrying out such logging," the press service said.
It is noted that former officials face up to 10 years in prison. At the moment, the SBI is preparing a petition for the selection of preventive measures, and measures are being taken to compensate for the damage caused.
