Slovakia can expand business activity in Transcarpathia, particularly in the field of wind energy development.
Potential projects were discussed by Deputy Minister of Energy Yaroslav Demchenkov and State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy of Slovakia Peter Shvets, the Ministry of Energy reports in Telegram.
It is noted that the projects are part of the previous agreements between the Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko and the Minister of Economy of Slovakia Peter Dovgun.
"The assistance provided to energy companies and communities, as well as support in the integration of Ukrainian energy markets with European ones, is invaluable. There is a strong export-import potential between our countries, we are working on the expansion of energy corridors and the creation of infrastructure projects of mutual interest, both in the electric power and gas sectors, including renewable gases", said Demchenkov
The message emphasized that due to a full-scale invasion more than 200 enterprises from other regions of Ukraine were relocated to Transcarpathia. Due to this, the level of electricity consumption has increased in the region, therefore it is necessary:
- install additional capacities;
- create balancing systems;
- strengthen the network;
- implement new infrastructure projects;
- develop the production of equipment necessary to accelerate the green transition.
Public hearings were recently held in one of the communities, where the idea of creating a wind park to cover its own demand and export electricity was positively received. The potential of bioenergy is also being studied.
Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that Ukraine and Denmark have started cooperation in the field of wind energy, the first stage of which involves an accelerated study of the potential of Ukrainian offshore generation.
As EcoPolitic previously reported, DTEK CEO Maksym Timchenko said that the company plans to build at least 2 GW of green power in Ukraine by 2030.
