According to foresters, in autumn they will plant local tree species

Eco-activists from the public organization "Ukrainian Nature Conservation Group" suspected foresters of planning to plant invasive tree species during the autumn campaign.

In nurseries, they planted the seeds of alien species of trees, which it is forbidden to plant in forests, UPG reports on Facebook.

It is noted that in the spring the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources approved a list of invasive tree species, including red oak, gledichia, robinia and other tree species.

Eco-activists said that, according to foresters, they will plant local species of trees in autumn. However, they were alarmed by the fact that in the documentation of the state-owned enterprise "Forests of Ukraine" there is information on the calculations of total costs due to the cultivation of invasive species in nurseries.

"We have every reason to believe that foresters are preparing to plant all pre-grown seedlings of invasive tree species this fall," the UPG emphasized.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in May 2023, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources approved a list of invasive tree species, which are prohibited to be planted for the creation and restoration of forests and field protection strips.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in Ukraine, as part of the "Green Country" program, in the spring of 2023 108 million trees were planted on an area of 15,180 hectares.
