Ukrainian soldiers on the front line rescued a red-book ferret – a steppe ferrets, which fell into a trench and could not get out.

This was reported by a public activist Serhiy Sternenko in Telegram.

At first, the military tried to free the animal with the help of a bed placed in a pit. However, it was not possible.

Then one of the defenders of Ukraine put his bulletproof vest in the hole and the ferret was able to get out through it, like a ladder.

The soldiers joked and laughed at such an event.

The video contains obscene language.

The ferret is the most isolated genus of ferrets in the fauna of Ukraine and is included in the list of species of the Berne Convention subject to special protection. Such animals are rare and live in the Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk and Luhansk regions. After all, the species is an autochthon of the steppe fauna, that is, a native inhabitant of the steppe.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that Oleg Radionov, the defender of Irpen, said that in between combat missions he fed the animals abandoned in the city, and at night he let them warm up in the dugout.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, in February 2023, animal rights activists from the public organization UAnimals and the Serhiy Prytula Charitable Foundation launched a collection for "cats" in the Armed Forces and cats in shelters.
