Such "care" for trees is widespread in many cities of Ukraine

In Kharkiv, the crowns of 18 out of 19 trees on the embankment were completely cut off, turning them into trunks.

Eco-activist Artem Prykhodko posted a video of the renovated embankment on his Facebook page to see how many trees remained alive after such crowning in 3-4 years.

He emphasized that, according to arborist (tree maintenance and care specialist) Volodymyr Vetrogradskyi, such care has nothing to do with healthy tree pruning and will have "unpleasant consequences."

"Unfortunately, this is the kind of "care" for trees in many cities of our country," Prykhodko emphasized.

The pruning of trees caused outrage among netizens.

User Yuliya Andrianova emphasized that there was very little shade in that area anyway, and in the summer people hid under the now disfigured trees from the heat.

"This is a crime! And not only in relation to trees, this is a crime against people too. Because the appearance of such trees scares, depresses and has a bad effect on the moral and psychological state, ethical perception of city residents. It scares away tourists (it was the same before the war). This distortion of the landscape is a sign that the authorities deeply care about the city's residents," Olga Che wrote.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that, in Rivne region, in the city of Zdolbuniv, employees of PJSC Rivneoblenergo destroyed several hawthorn trees, which were the "business card" of the city, while crowning trees in the area of the power transmission line.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, activists from the village of Kuchakiv, Boryspil district, in Kyiv region want to bring to administrative responsibility those responsible for the destruction of three hundred-year-old white poplars, whose crowns were cut off by utility workers, leaving only the trunks.
