The Ukrainian delegation at the COP27 UN Climate Summit prevented another Russian attempt to "hybrid" legalize the illegal annexation and occupation of Ukrainian territory.

Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources for European Integration Svitlana Grynchuk stated that it is inadmissible for the Russian Federation to submit reports on greenhouse gas emissions from the occupied territories of Ukraine, the Ministry of Environment reports on Facebook.

The report noted that during the opening of COP27, a lot of attention was devoted to the issue of support for Ukraine, condemnation of the Kremlin's military aggression and its consequences for the environment and climate.

Grinchuk stated that it is inadmissible for the Russian Federation to submit reports on greenhouse gas emissions that contain statistics for Crimea and the city of Sevastopol or other temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, referring to the relevant resolution of the UN General Assembly.

"The military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine undermines the efforts of the whole world to combat climate change. We will never allow the use of the UN climate platform for the "hybrid" legalization of the annexation and occupation of Ukrainian territory," she emphasized.

The message noted that representatives of the European Union, the UK, Australia, Canada, Japan, the USA, Norway, Israel and Iceland condemned Russia's military aggression in support of Ukraine.

"Taking into account the strong support of the Ukrainian position and the readiness of the hall to accept the Ukrainian decision, the Russian delegation did not make any statement in response, and supported it based on the principle of tacit consent," the press service of the Ministry of Environment said.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that Ukraine will present at COP27 a number of initiatives, associated with a full-scale invasion Russia.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the Ukrainian pavilion will open for the first time at COP27 to attract as much attention as possible to the issue of green reconstruction of the country.
