In the Sumy region, an airstrike on the Sonyachna Polyana recreation center, which is located in the middle of the Sumy Forest Farm, caused damage in the amount of almost 1.73 million hryvnias.

This airstrike destroyed 212 trees and injured several people, reports State Inspection on Telegram.

The event took place on March 8 in the Bytytskyi Starostyn District of the Sumy Territorial Community.

The airstrike also destroyed and damaged the infrastructure facilities of the recreation center.

"According to this fact, the District Prosecutor's Office of the city of Sumy opened criminal proceedings and involved specialists of the State Environmental Inspection in the Sumy region to assess the environmental damage caused by the occupiers," the message said.

The settlement materials were handed over to law enforcement agencies.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Sumy region, the fire at the Trostyanets chocolate factory, which lasted for more than a day in March 2022, caused damage to the environment for 10.6 million hryvnias. The incident occurred during the temporary occupation of Trostyanets, and the russian military did not allow the fire to be extinguished.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, eco-inspectors calculated 1.8 million hryvnias in damages to the environment as a result of shelling by russian troops of Alliance agricultural enterprises in Sumy region.
