The plan for spring provided for 4.8 million seedlings

In Khmelnytsky, Bukovyna, and Ternopil regions, the State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine" planted about 5.8 million seedlings, covering an area of almost a thousand hectares. Of these, 55.2 hectares are new forests.

This was reported by the Podil Forestry Office on Facebook.

It is noted that the weather conditions made it possible to plant much more than planned. The plan for the spring included 4.8 million seedlings.

"The number of planted seedlings directly depends on the weather and climate situation in the region. Under favorable conditions, spring planting of forests has already been completed in almost all branches of Khmelnytskyi, Bukovyna, and Ternopil Regions of SE "Forests of Ukraine". as well as in the area of ​​Maly Polissya, where some areas are flooded," the Podil Forestry Office reports.

As it became known, a total of 5 million 837 thousand seedlings were planted:

  • In Khmelnytskyi region – 2.4 million;
  • In Ternopil Oblast – almost 1.6 million;
  • In Bukovina – about 1.7 million.

"The creation of a forest is one of the most important environmental measures. They contribute to the fight against climate change. Trees perform the function of natural filters, absorb carbon dioxide and rid the atmosphere of pollution. Thanks to this, the level of harmful emissions is reduced, and air quality is significantly improved," – the forest department emphasizes office

As EcoPolitic previously reported, the forestry campaign of 2024 is underway in Ukraine. Foresters have already restored 9.7 thousand hectares and created more than 1.2 thousand hectares of new forests.
