In the Kyiv region, in the Yagotyn district, a self-seeded forest was destroyed on part of the territory of the future reserve of local importance "Chernyakhivski luky".

The territory was cleared of stumps by a bulldozer for its further plowing, Oleksandr Rozanov, head of the public organization "Protection of Small Rivers of Ukraine", wrote on Facebook after inspecting the territory.

He noted that the total conditional area of "Chernyakhivsky luky" should have reached 100 hectares.

Rozanov talked to the driver of the bulldozer, who said that the land users of these plots decided to uproot all the trees and plow the land.

"Nobody cares that these lands are part of the swamp-flood system of the river. That these lands were inexplicably registered as lands for commercial agricultural production," the author emphasized.

He also emphasized that an information board has been installed on the site, which states that these lands are "for recreation and recovery of wild animals."

Rozanov also wrote that such actions violate the Law of Ukraine "On the preservation of forests" (draft law No. 5650) and several other legislative norms.

The eco-activist emphasized that the entire area is littered with uprooted trees, along fields with grain crops. He also emphasized that he has contacted the relevant authorities regarding the violation.

Earlier, EcoPolitic wrote, that in Kyiv, trees were cut down on the almost wild Obolonsky Island, covered with a floodplain forest.

As EcoPolitic previously reported, near the Boryspil highway, near the villages of Prolisky and Shchaslyve, the "Nova poshta" company cut down part of the forest for the construction of a new sorting terminal with a runway.
